Renova’s commitment to sustainability comes not just from being a solar installation business, but because it’s the right thing to do.
Making Our Headquarters a “Green Zone”
Our headquarters building is a prime example of Renova’s commitment to sustainability. In 2008, our office was in a rundown building. Renova founder, Vincent Battaglia, took the master lease, although at the time Renova only needed a small office in the 14,400 sq. ft. building, and worked with the owner to make it over into the “GreenZone”.
Sustainable improvements included:
- 75 solar lights
- Tile and carpet made from recycled materials
- No VOC paint
- Increased insulation
- Solar on the roof
As Renova grew and other leases expired, Renova purchased more and more of the space, finally culminating in complete ownership of the building in 2016.
Recent Improvements in Sustainability
In the last few years, Renova has continued to make strides in sustainability. We’ve added an electric car charger powered by solar in the front for public use, two additional chargers for employee and company vehicles (of which there are several), as well as two bikes and a golf cart to travel between the primary administrative building and Renova’s operations building a block away.
For ourmaintenance division, Renova has custom designed and retrofitted two cleaning vehicles with battery-operated power washers rather than smog-emitting gasoline generators.
Insulated branded water bottles are given to each employee to cut down on plastic waste, and filtered water is available at both buildings for fill-ups. Even small things like having the printer defaulting to two-sided printing and having a recycling container as well as a trash container at each desk makes a big difference.
Renova also strives to purchase items locally as much as possible, including vehicles, printing, promotional items, gift basket items and electrical supplies, all to help cut down on supply side carbon emissions.
