This is the second year that I have taught this course and this year was even better than the first with a first field trip weekend to Colmac and the Valley's largest solar power facility...this weekend the seven of us ventured out to the WinTec wind turbine field and then down to the Salton Sea and CalEnergy's geothermal energy facility. At WinTec our gracious host Fritz Noble instructed us in site characteristics, tower types and sizes, wind speed and energy production, turbine replacements and planning and permitting processes.  Incredible...the guy is fast becoming the Godson of Wind...his dad Fred...is the Godfather :-)
